Garage Sales, Yard Sales, Estate Sales

Weekly Garage Sale Tip - August 26th, 2009

You can put on the best garage sale possible, but it won’t be a success without customers.  To get those customers you need to make sure you have a great advertising plan for your garage sale.

Your first stop should be listing your garage sale for free at GarageSales.com.  Here your sale will be available for any one in the U.S. to search for.  You never know if someone will be visiting from out of town and looking for a great garage sale to occupy their time with on Saturday or Sunday afternoon.

Secondly, be sure to post ad advertisement in your local newspaper’s garage sale section.  Thursdays and Fridays are the top days that people look for garages sales for the upcoming weekend.  If you can’t or don’t want to spend enough for the whole week, target these two days for posting your garage sale advertisement.

Weekly Garage Sale Tip - August 4th, 2009

Organize your sale items with the buyers in mind. If you plan to have a lot of traffic, you’ll want to make sure the aisles between your tables are wide enough for multiple people to be walking around.  Make sure all items are marked with the price.  If some of your items don’t have a clear price, you may lose out on some sales from some of the more timid buyers.  Place larger items you think will go faster near the road to draw attention from those who may just be driving by.  Also, be sure to put children’s toys to the side. If you have a lot of children digging through those items, you won’t want adult customers to trip over them while trying to browse through the rest of your sale  items.
